A shared love of music

I have many lovely things to say about my mother Sylvia, but the things that really stand out in my mind are a) she was a great comforter. I was quite a shy, fearful child and she would reassure me in a way I’ll never forget. She built me up to believe in myself and what I could do.

b) This is a wonderful privilege for me: my mother shared her love and expertise in music, and in playing the piano, in particular. I had the benefit, throughout my childhood and as a young adult, of having her as my teacher. She encouraged me a lot and seemed to really joy in my achievements. She was pleased when I opted to learn the violin at school, and was always proud of me when I passed my exams. Eventually, she bought me a decent violin from Woodbridge, as I have been wanting to go back to playing it, after a long while of concentrating on the piano, composing and playing keyboards in local bands.
My lovely mum also encouraged me with my art.

I have many things to thank my dear mother, Sylvia for, and what I’ve said so far doesn’t quite cover all the things she has given me in life.

I can only now give a huge ‘Thank you’ to Sylvia for everything.
